David P. Cantrell, a retired CPA, lives with his wife of four decades in the beautiful coastal community of Arroyo Grande in central California. A spinal cord injury in 2009, ended his career and his love affair with woodworking. The injury left him paralyzed from the neck down, but with the help and love of his wife and caring therapists, he’s recovered significant function, although he remains wheelchair-bound.
A chance encounter with a science fiction author, Jasper T. Scott, changed his life. Dave became a beta reader for one of Jasper’s Dark Space novels. He had no idea what a beta reader did, so he did what he wanted to do. Jasper understood his newbie status, but more importantly, he encouraged Dave’s efforts. Dave went on to perform structural and copy editing for several authors and ventures into the writer’s realm from time to time.
